Clouds darkened the skies at Estádio da Luz as 3714 spectators turned up for the match. was the appointed referee with assistance provided by and . SLBRED had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. Lineup: Ferreira - Leite, Ramada, António, Ouro, Fernandes - Schmidt, Bilro, Moniz, Moniz - Härmävaara.

MIKALOBEST tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Rouissi - Dioh, Demarais, Pineau, Trichard - Denys, Havard, Proust, Popotte - Brossier, Lantheaume.

For their match strategy, SLBRED had decided to use their world class ability to counter-attack whenever possible. 7 minutes into the game, Charles Demarais almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. SLBRED were very close to putting themselves one up after 20 minutes as Markus Härmävaara got through on the left. However, his concentration failed him, and he shot wide. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 27 minutes into the match, and Stéphane Popotte wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors. Due to some great work on the right wing SLBRED's Markus Härmävaara was able to even the score after 33 minutes to make the score 1 - 1. With 37 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 2 - 1 lead as Américo Ouro flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. Good work by the MIKALOBEST defensive line after 39 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found Steve Brossier alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. After 40 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as MIKALOBEST found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to passable. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. SLBRED enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.

During the break, MIKALOBEST's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organisation. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of SLBRED to 3 - 1 as Celso Moniz finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Confident in their lead, SLBRED's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Pascal Trichard got himself booked. The manager of MIKALOBEST was not happy. 77 minutes into the game, MIKALOBEST had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to weak. After 78 minutes, MIKALOBEST sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached Christophe Pineau, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 3 - 2. The visitors kept the pressure on to tie the game when, after 80 minutes, Pascal Trichard broke through the centre and found himself alone with the keeper. Gaspar Ferreira made a great block, though. With 86 minutes played, SLBRED put themselves up 4 - 2 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to Amaro Ramada, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. SLBRED managed to extend their lead to 5 - 2 when Markus Härmävaara cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. SLBRED had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

Markus Härmävaara performed admirably for SLBRED. On the other hand, Gaspar Ferreira's play was disheartening. MIKALOBEST's top performer was clearly Steve Brossier. Abdelkader Rouissi was a disappointment, however. The match ends 5 - 2.
