BMW 3 - 1 Alkohol

Dark skies made the crowd of 1681 at Ultras Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. was the appointed referee with assistance provided by and . The match took place on neutral ground. BMW started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. They fielded: Vujković - Lugau, Helseth, Haller, Eckenberg - Ariagno, Pavič, Einsiedel, Matiz, Knežević - Dimatos.

Alkohol had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. Lineup: Labarta - Betta, Konjević, Dousset, Betta, Grossmann - Uusimaa, Reinthaler, Rodríguez, Bálint - Fürstenwärther.

It was an obvious ambition of BMW to use their outstanding ability at attacking on the flanks. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Alkohol on this day, taking advantage of their formidable level with that tactic. After 3 minutes, BMW sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached Dušan Knežević, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 1 - 0. 8 minutes in, Alkohol appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only passable. Peter Reinthaler sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from Antonio Betta after 22 minutes of play, making the score 1 - 1. At 26 minutes played, Georg Eckenberg came in from the right with the intention of giving BMW the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. Slack defending gave BMW a chance to take the lead with 39 minutes played, but Dominik Pavič's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. Attacking on the wings was the choice for BMW, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. BMW had a chance to take the lead after Helmut Haller's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 42 minutes. 44 minutes into the game, Alkohol had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to poor. Halftime score was 1 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by BMW, with 55 percent of the ball.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Alkohol was able to get his message across, and raised Alkohol's organisation to passable. 60 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a BMW substitution. Castejón Nava came on for Dominik Pavič. Alkohol had to make a substitution after 63 minutes. Peter Reinthaler limped off the field and was replaced by Enrico Barthel. Aleksa Konjević was the new captain of Alkohol - handed the armband by the departing player. BMW could have put themselves ahead after 64 minutes but Yiorgos Dimatos missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right. 68 minutes in, BMW's Dušan Knežević received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 72 minutes, Harry Helseth came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving BMW the lead. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of BMW to 3 - 1 as Fred Lugau finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. The BMW players could smell victory in the air. Atanasije Vujković wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Petar Vučetić after 82 minutes. BMW enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.

BMW's best player was Castejón Nava. Petar Vučetić on the other hand, had a terrible day. Alkohol's top performer was clearly Magnus Fürstenwärther. Manuel Labarta turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 1.
